Mining 101: Ep 17.What is Indium?

Greg Johnson, President & C.E.O. of South American Silver, explains what Indium is.

From Wiki: Indium is a chemical element with chemical symbol In and atomic number 49. This rare, very soft, malleable and easily fusible post-transition metal is chemically similar to gallium and thallium, and shows the intermediate properties between these two. Indium's current primary application is to form transparent electrodes from indium tin oxide in liquid crystal displays and touchscreens, and this use largely determines its global mining production. It is widely used in thin-films to form lubricated layers (during World War II it was widely used to coat bearings in high-performance aircraft). It is also used for making particularly low melting point alloys, and is a component in some lead-free solders.

President & CEO Don Ranta of Rare Element Resources gives a comprehensive presentation on the companies Bear Lodge Rare Earth and Gold Project in Wyoming.

Rare Element Resources was specifically created to develop the Bear
Lodge rare-earth-element and gold deposits in northeast Wyoming. The US Geological Survey has studied the area extensively (USGS Prof. Paper #1049-D) and has estimated that it contains one of the largest deposit of disseminated rare-earth elements in North America. The deposit, virtually all of which is located on claims owned by Rare Element Resources, also has an association with significant nearby gold occurrences and some copper mineralization. Rare Element Resources is currently exploring for Rare Earths and Gold and results have been very good to date.

Uranium North Resources President & C.E.O. Mark Kolebaba gives a brief update about UNR's Mallery Gold project in Nunavut and explores step-out drill targets as they look to expand their resource.

About Uranium North:
As the world's leading uranium producer, Canada is a prime hunting ground for the next generation of world-class uranium mines. Uranium North Resources is one of a few companies with a NI 43-101 defined resource. This gives the Company a strategic advantage over most companies still exploring grassroots prospects in an increasingly sophisticated and competitive mining market niche.
This year the company initiated a low cost strategy to generate gold and base metal opportunities from their large proprietary geochemical and geophysical databases. The identification of gold at Mallery Lake, Kam and Aura are the first of several gold projects being developed.

Keith Schaefer, editor of Oil and Gas Investments Bulletin (http://www.oilandgas-investments.com) explains what fracing is.

From wiki: Hydraulic fracturing, often called fracking, fracing or hydrofracking, is the process of initiating and subsequently propagating a fracture in a rock layer, employing the pressure of a fluid as the source of energy. The fracturing, known as a frack job (or frac job), is done from a wellbore drilled into reservoir rock formations, in order to increase the extraction rates and ultimate recovery of oil and natural gas.
